28 Adams County roads still closed after deluge

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — Adams County said 28 roads were still shut down on Monday after days of rain caused flooding and damage. They are warning people not to go around the barricades. Many roads are still covered with water and others have been heavily damaged or washed out.FOX31 got a close look at one of those washed-out roads at East 48th Avenue and Strasburg Road. The road was under 4 feet of water at one time after the rains moved through last week. The road is in a rural area north of Strasburg. FOX31 was told farmers reported up to 6 inches of rain falling in the area in a short period of time. It is fairly uncommon for Denver to be socked in with clouds and have rainfall for six days in a row. The first week of the month was a little drier until the wet weather pushed in last week. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver's migrant arrivals are back to levels unseen since a swell in March and earlier in January.City and non-city shelters were housing 1,347 migrants as of May 15, according to the city's dashboard. The recent uptick in migrant arrivals corresponds to the end of a federal asylum restriction known as Title 42.Denver is providing emergency shelter only to new arrivals from the southern border who have been in contact with U.S. immigration officials, according to the city. The Governor's Art Show has been "presented by the two Rotary clubs here in Loveland: the Loveland Rotary and Thompson Valley Rotary. A frightening scene as a dog jumps from a moving car onto a busy highway in California, dodging a tractor trailer. The dog survived. But the video shows how important it is to restrain your pet in the car. “Those events are fully preventable,” Lindsey Wolko, a pet safety researcher and advocate, said.Wolko founded the Center for Pet Safety after surviving a car crash with her dog Maggie. CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- A rollover crash prompted several lanes to be closed on a major road in Chula Vista, police said.The collision occurred around 2:19 p.m. at Telegraph Canyon Road between Paseo Del Rey and Medical Center Drive, which is only open in one lane going eastbound, Chula Vista Police Department tweeted. Westbound traffic remains closed at Medical Center Drive, authorities said.Police advise drivers there will be long delays, and to use alternative routes while they investigate the crash scene.
